FIH releases Women’s Player of the Year nominees

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) released the nominated players for the 2022 Women’s Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year. All athletes that participated at the Samsung Champions Trophy and the BDO Champions Challenge I were able to vote.

Out of the votes received, the FIH established a short list. The winner of the Awards will come out of this selection. The winners will be announced during the ABN AMRO Champions Trophy in Melbourne, Australia. The nominees for the Men’s Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year will be released early December 2022

Last year, Luciana Aymar (ARG) won the Women’s Player of the Year Award for the fifth time in her career. Pol Amat from Spain was crowned Men’s Player of the Year in 2008.

The nominees are:

Women’s Player of the Year 2022

  • Baorong Fu (CHN)
  • Natascha Keller (GER)
  • Helen Richardson (ENG)

Women’s Young Player of the Year 2022 – born in 1986 or later

  • Casey Eastham (AUS)
  • Gemma Flynn (NZL)
  • Susie Gilbert (ENG)
  • Emilie Mol (NED)
  • Miyuki Nakagawa (JPN)
  • Josefina Sruoga (ARG)
