Global Hockey Marathon day: Three Rock Hockey Club
27 May 2004

Preparations started with a dream auction. Players (young and in the right corner...old) and their parents donated dreams to the auction. More than 170 items, including a national team shirt from Remco van Wijk and a national Irish women’s team shirt, were auctioned raising 15.000 euro. Some of these were redeemed on Marathon day. Our 7th squad outbid the 3rds for the honour of playing against the 1st team.

drag flick...On the 15th of May the 7th took a 2-1 lead before the inevitable happened. The 1st won 10-3. The 7th ‘s top drag flicker, coached by 13 year old Daniel Vreeken who happened to play with the 1sts, was on target. On the same day the 3rds challenged the 2nds and the 6ths challenged the 4ths in the afternoon. Earlier Niall Denham (U14 coach) who had bid for the honour of coaching the ladies veterans put the ladies through their paces. Multi capped past international David Judge coached U14 players how to hit and stop. Car washing by the U16s for their tour fund was washed out.
