Since German midfielder Fanny Rinne made her international debut against Japan in 1998, she has become one of the most influential players in women's hockey.

A gold medallist with the German women's team in Athens, Rinne also lists winning the 2006 Champions trophy and the 2007 European Championships as career highlights.

She has studied sports science at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and is currently playing for HDM Den Haag club in the Netherlands. Previous to this Rinne played 10 years of club hockey with TSV Mannheim before switching to the Berliner HC in 2006.

Away from hockey she enjoys in-line skating, skiing, watching movies and reading.
