Nine teams qualified for Hero Honda FIH Men’s World Cup 2023

After the conclusion of the EuroHockey Nations Championships and the Oceania Cup, nine of the twelve participants for the Hero Honda FIH Men’s World Cup in New Delhi, India are known.

The following teams will participate in FIH’s flagship event from 28 February-13 March 2023:

  • India (Host)
  • Canada (Champion of the 3rd Men’s Pan American Cup)
  • Korea (Champion of the 8th Men’s Asia Cup)
  • South Africa (Champion of the Africa Cup of Nations, 2022)
  • Australia (Champion of the 6th Men’s Oceania Cup)
  • England (Champion of the 12th Men’s EuroHockey Nations Championship)
  • Germany (Silver medalist of the 12th Men’s EuroHockey Nations Championship)
  • Netherlands (Bronze medalist of the 12th Men’s EuroHockey Nations Championship)
  • Spain (Fourth ranked team of the 12th Men’s EuroHockey Nations Championship)

Eighteen teams still have a chance to claim one of the three remaining vacancies for the Hero Honda FIH Men’s World Cup 2023. These eighteen teams are allocated to the following FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifiers:

FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifier Lille, France, 31 October-8 November 2022:
Pakistan, Japan, France, Poland, Russia, Italy (as reserve country)

BDO FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifier, Invercargill, New Zealand, 7-15 November 2022:
New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Austria, Scotland, Wales

BDO FIH Men’s World Cup Qualifier, Quilmes, Argentina, 14-22 November 2022:
Belgium, Argentina, Ireland, USA, Czech Republic, Chile.
