Introduction
Why getting involved in the project? Zambia’s population is 12 million people; it is one of the poorest nations in Africa. The “Sports for Hope – Hockey Pitch for Zambia” project will have a deep impact in the region
Project Description
The Sports for Hope project is an IOC initiated program which aims to build a multi-purpose Olympic Sports and Educational Centre in Lusaka, Zambia financed by several partners.

Technical Implementation
The FIH Equipment Committee has investigated which synthetic turf suppliers are qualified to provide a good quality installation.
Usage of the Hockey Pitch
Once the pitch is completed, Zambia Hockey Association (ZHA) can start to extend its development programme to Lusaka in order to prepare their teams for the 2023 Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
Conclusion
There is a real enthusiasm about the Sports for Hope project in Zambia. The project will have a significant influence on people’s lives in the area not just in hockey but on a wider, social level.
