Q: What is the preferred direction of the long axis of a hockey pitch?

A: Preferably the hockey pitch should be constructed on a north south axis. However, there are tolerances to this which can actually increase with latitude. The recommended tolerance by FIH is for the long axis to be within an angle of + or - 15E (east or west) of north.
